Abstract
Introduction and goal: Addiction, as a fundamental problem, has gone beyond the scope of health and treatment and has become a psychological, social and family problem. This research was conducted with the aim of predicting readiness for addiction based on difficulty in emotional regulation and mental resilience in students.
Research methodology: The research was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population included all students of Islamic Azad University, Shiraz branch in 2024 200 people were selected by the available sampling method and answered the research tools including addiction readiness questionnaire (Wade et al., 1992), emotion dysregulation (Gratz and Romer, 2004), resilience questionnaire (Connor and Davidson, 2003). Pearson correlation test and multivariate regression and SPSS-v26 statistical software were used for data analysis.
Findings: The results showed that there is a positive and significant correlation between the total score of emotion dysregulation and readiness for addiction among students (r=0.547 and P<0.008), and there is a negative and significant correlation between the total score of resilience and readiness for addiction among students. (r=-0.512 and P<0.006). The regression analysis also showed that the predictor variables were able to explain 29% of the variance of addiction readiness in students.
Conclusion: According to the results, it is possible to reduce the vulnerability of students in critical situations by identifying emotional and psychological variables.
