Comparison of Self-Esteem and Depression in Single and Married Shipping Workers in Tehran

Abstract
Introduction and goal: Psychological issues are among the effective factors that affect job and family efficiency. Therefore, the present study was conducted with the aim of comparing self-esteem and depression in single and married shipping workers.
Research methodology: The research was descriptive-cross-sectional and post-event type. The statistical population included all single and married shipping employees of Tehran city in 2024, which were selected by available sampling method, 80 people (40 single employees and 40 married employees). Data collection was done with self-esteem questionnaire (Rosenberg, 1989) and depression questionnaire (Beck, 1996). The data were analyzed by multivariate variance analysis and SPSS version 26 software.
Findings: The results showed that there is a significant difference between the two groups of shipping workers in the studied variables including depression and self-esteem; In this way, in the group of married employees, self-esteem is significantly higher than single employees, and depression is at a lower level.
Conclusion: Considering the importance of psychological issues and the role they play in organizational productivity, it is necessary for those in charge to pay special attention to the psychological health of employees.
