Abstract
Introduction and purpose: Today, some people commit suicide instead of solving life problems. This issue has attracted the attention of different schools, including Islam. Islam gives special importance to the value of human life and the issue of death and has certain views on this matter. Therefore, the main purpose of this research was to investigate the psycho-social methods of suicide prevention based on Islamic teachings.
Research Methodology: This research was conducted with a descriptive analytical method using domestic and foreign articles and online sources. First, the articles related to suicide were examined from the perspective of Islamic teachings, then the psychological and social factors affecting suicide were identified, and the related articles were selected and analyzed.
Findings: In Islam, suicide is explicitly forbidden and this ruling is emphasized in the verses of the Qur'an and the hadiths of the Prophet (PBUH) and Ahl al-Bayt (PBUH). Indirect solutions to prevent it include strengthening faith, familiarity with the Qur'an, self-knowledge and giving meaning to life, strengthening social relationships instead of isolation, improving mental health against depression and anxiety, improving family relationships, and preventing alcohol and drug addiction. .
Conclusion: Islam gives special importance to the preservation of human life by emphasizing the sanctity of suicide. In addition to the explicit ruling, this school deals with suicide prevention and increasing resilience against problems by providing indirect solutions such as strengthening faith, self-knowledge, giving meaning to life, strengthening social and family relationships, and taking care of mental health. These recommendations show that Islam pays attention not only to the spiritual aspects but also to the psychological and social health of a person and considers them to be a part of a healthy life.
