New Paradigms in Educational Research

Perceptions of Faculty Members and Students about Higher Education in the Post Covid Era

Introduction:Higher education,as the main institution that develops specialized human resources,plays a critical role in achieving sustainable development based on globalization considerations.The purpose of this research is to investigate the perceptions of professors and students about the state of developments in higher education in the post-corona era.The current research is practical in terms of its purpose,which was carried out with a qualitative approach of thematic analysis and using an exploratory strategy.

Research methodology:The statistical population consists of 35 people,including professors working in higher education and students of various degrees, including master's and doctoral degrees,and the sampling was done in a purposeful manner until theoretical saturation was reached. The data was collected through semi-structured interviews and in an approximate time between 30 and 45 minutes in person and virtual ways on the platform of social networks.

Findings:Based on the findings of the research and according to the classification of basic themes and the recognition of an abstract theme, six global themes include: problems and limitations of the existing situation and challenges of virtual education including 14 organizing themes; educational opportunities. Virtual includes five organizing themes; consequences of virtual education including nine  organizing themes and;virtual education development solutions including six organizing themes;higher education developments including 4 organizing themes were obtained.

Conclusion:The results of this research showed that in order to play a positive and meaningful role in the days after Corona,higher education should adapt itself based on the components of structure and management,environmental and international accountability,and curriculum design.
